The Oasis was built in traditional Hardwood hull. This is her fourth season doing the Surf Charter in the Mentawai Island,  and the other surf locations in Sumatra , but she comes with a seasoned crew and surf guide!

The Mentawai People have lived for centuries on their unique Archipelago of Islands, now reduced to a few settlements on the southern tip of Siberut Island, they still have a strong traditional lifestyle though their future is threatened by external forces such as logging, introduced diseases, and large scale settlement of Non Mentawai due to economic and population pressures in other parts of Indonesia.

Is giving money a mere means of easing our western conscience? Money is an inevitable part of modern life, even for these tribes. We give them money for experiencing their life, but our aim is to help them use this money to preserve their culture. Have some chats with your guide along that week, as you will be staying in his family & friends’ houses, he will help you to understand the situation more deeply. He is the son of tribes’ people.

Mentawai, one of Indonesian islands, with its millions of beauty, inhabited by one ethnic people, Mentawai, having tattoes all over their bodies. Its exotism and the existence of endangered primate, called pigtail monkey, dwarf siamang and beruk that live wildly and freely side to side with the people in a traditional house inhabited by group of people. Prepare yourself for for the unlimited experiences. You will definitely enjoy!

Pick up from guest to harbour padang from harbour mentawai , then prepared to Muara Siberut by Speed Boat. From muara Siberut continued to Kesagu by Boat. Start Trekking from Kesagu to Rorogod and stay for the day at local traditional house.

Day 3 Sunday
Explore the local. See for the making of traditional fabric from woods leaves and a poison bow  At noon with the local catch a fish and hunting in the jungle.

Day 4 Monday
Trekking to the waterfall and at night Mentawai Sikerei Dance show full of magic!.

Day 5 Tuedays
Trekking to Kesagu and by boat to Muara siberut. at noon heading back to padang by speed boat. ETA at Padang 06.00pm. End of Trip

Our Trip is different with normal boat charter, we are standby in Siberut Area and take the surfer to surf around Play ground and Telescope, clients will use Ambu ambu Iron ferry to crossing from and back Padang Mentawai, our schedule will follows Ambu ambu ferry schedule, that's way our price is the cheapest boat charter in Mentawai. if the clients need more day and more destination in Mentawai can be adjusted, just lets us know.

This surf charter trip includes the following:

Specification

 Boat Highlights: Saraina is a 67' x 16' Indonesian Hardwood boat built in Padang, umatra in 2003. It is one of the newest charter vessels serving the Mentawai Islands and it has been custom built specifically for surf charters from the water up. The Saraina is outfitted with all the amenities of home including full air conditioning, tv, vcr, vcd, stereo, fridge, freezer, radar, depth sounder, gps,VHF/HF radio, 220V generator, life jackets, flares, EPIRB, first aid kit, tender and outboard, and a spacious living room. Saraina caters exclusively to slightly smaller groups of 6 surfers who want to maximize their surf time and have ample space to move around.

    Saraina has a cruising speed of 8-9 knots and is powered by a 360 turbo diesel Mitsubishi engine.

    Accommodation on board is in two main cabins, one holds four guests in an open - house fashion while the other contains two slightly larger beds suitable for one or two people. There is a suggested limit of eight surfers per trip on the Saraina to maintain it's exclusivity.

    The run boat is an aluminum tender with a 15 HP outboard engine

    The Saraina is built with a lustrous dark coconut wood which gives it a unique look and appeal. Most locally built surf charter boats in the Mentawai's have a light colored wood..

    The staff on the Saraina includes the captain, a mechanic, a chef, a deck hand, and a highly qualified surf guide, Dede, a Mentawai local who has been guiding surf trips for over five years.

What's not included in the package? $25 VISA fee payable inside the airport- $30 Mentawai Government fee. Wine and spirits are not available - we suggest purchasing these items in Singapore or any duty free shop and bringing them onboard yourself. Tipping the crew is not mandatory but appreciated.

Mentawai Islands

Located about 80 miles west of Indonesia’s largest island, Sumatra, the Mentawai Islands are the home of some of the best and most consistent surf on the planet. Because of their exposure to swells in the Roaring 40s, the sheer volume of surf spots in the region, and the remoteness of the islands (some of which are uninhabited), the Mentawais have become the premiere surf destination.

The reason for all the hype: simply, the surf. Rights, lefts, big waves, playful points, open shoulders, and racing tubes … from three feet to ten, the Mentawais has it all.

The Seasons

(October – November)

Still packs a punch in the Mentawais, and October/November are considered consistent months. But as December matures, swells die off, as do the surfers – it can be prefect ‘layback’ surfing.

(December – February)
Is downtime in the Mentawais, when most the boats go in for repairs and rest. While there are still great waves available, the winds tend to be less favorable, and much of the Indonesian surf community relocates to Bali.

 (March – April)
Is when the big weather machine at the bottom of the world switches on and starts showering the Mentawais with south and southwest swell energy. Though fall isn’t the most popular time it can offer prefect waves with very few surfers in the water.

(June – September)
Is go time in the Mentawais, and from June to September it’s very hard to miss out on the best waves available on the planet. The source of the surf is low-pressure systems in the southern Indian Ocean when send ground swells thousands of miles across the open ocean. This is the most consistent time.

Re-built in 2012 KM.Asia is a 24.20 Meters solid wooden hulled beauty and was purpose built for long haul surf exploration along the Indonesian coastline. Her traditional lines are drawn from over 1000 years of Indonesian maritime knowledge. She is locally designed for local conditions, she has an ample space for relax and comfortable in heavy seas and provides maximum safety for all on board. Her twin 190hp Mitsubishi diesel engines provide a cruising speed of 9-10 knots. This combined with her 7000 L fuel capacity allows you the freedom and luxury of extended periods at sea without the time delays of re-supply. This means you get uninterrupted maximum surf time on all of your trips.
